One thing I love to do is explore, it may actually be the most satisfying thing I do. Most of the time it involves a plane or two and usually ends up somewhere that most people would find downright unpleasant. My latest excursion was probably the most opposite and unusual of most of my jaunts, Cabo! Unpleasant, not even close. In fact it was probably the most tourist place I have gone complete with whale watches, glass bottom boat rides, parasailing, snorkeling....... you get the picture. After a day or two I was almost reluctant to bring my camera anywhere with me because I didn't want to be "that guy". Luckily I was traveling with a lovely Russian model that was reason enough to always have a camera at my side. The two of us decided to get away from the masses and find some tasty cuisine outside the tourist trap of San Lucas and found what we were looking for by way of a small kitchen that had a varied menu and some delicious organic fare. The real treat however was the conglomeration of antique furniture and modern art within the villa that restaurant was located. The beautiful landscape of lamps and doors were the escape I needed, the cure for the common. Unknowingly I had walked into a world of antique Mexican decor that told a story of how truly colorful the people are and how overlooked the beauty of their old world style is. The evidence in the carvings of wood and stone of pride and a quality of workmanship that is simply lost in todays world was astounding. I was greeted to looks of appreciation from one of the workers that busily tended to the artifacts as I spent time examining them before each shot. I hope more people find this gem and that they continue to grow the story of their heritage. Oh by the way, the veggie burrito was so good my mouth is watering just writing about it!

I think you should make a point of it. The people there are extraordinary and unfortunately suffering due to some negative events going down in other parts of their country. Cabo as much of Mexico is dependent on tourism and the money drawn in by the constant stream of folks visiting and enjoying a slice of their life. Things are relatively slow at the moment because would be travelers are well, afraid for their life! Other than some annoying and pushy people hawking wares in San Lucas' marina there is absolutely nothing to worry about. I easily walked the streets at night without issue and the military police were always here and there. The place simply comes to life at night and hopefully more people go check it out. Thanks again!
