The Irises in the front garden have started to bloom. I love shooting these flowers because of their bold colors and distinctive shape. The sun was behind the house so I used the ambient light combined with my Nikon SB-700 Flash. I wanted to make the light from the flash as soft as possible so I used a combination of a small soft box attachment, a piece of paper taped onto the soft box to enlarge the surface area, and finally bouncing the flash off of the siding on the house. Didn't have to do much in post, the contrast and saturation was pretty much perfect in camera.
