Huge Huge
Modeled steel and copper on steel base.
27" x 5" x 5"
This steel sculpture was inspired by Barbara Morgan's photograph of Martha Graham's "Letter to the World". I was moved by this photograph many years ago when I first viewed it. I am drawn to its moment of subtle yet dramatic movement.

To capture the drama of the photograph in this steel sculpture, I combined the idea of a bird of prey with that of a dancer making the skirt/wings with copper producing the dramatic rich blue patina. The piece appears to be eternally in motion depending upon the angle and movement of the viewer.

That 2nd image of its slim view is poetic. You captured the delicate balance of a dance with the power of prey. THanks for joining look forward to seeing more.
