One of the most important designers festival in South America, Trimarchi, in Mar del Plata, Argentina, is open this weekend at the city Stadium, Polideportivo, for all the fans of graphic design. In the heart of the Argentinean Graphic Design is doubtlessly the worlds famous Trimarchi Festival. This year’s festival inaugurated yesterday and will continue this weekend with some of the most inventive and inspiring designers such as David Carson, who changed the course of modern typography, or the London’s studio Big Active, which uses creative design in the music industry. The festivals tickets are 360pesos for the three days for the “planta alta” and 450pesos for three days for “campo”. The festival opened its doors somewhere after midday with short speeches from the organizers Pablo y Seba. Later the design studio Filete showed how the Chilean typography design is progressing. Next on the stage was Jeremyville, an Australian illustrator and designer who for years has expositions all over the world. Then Elliot Tupac held a workshop for morphologic composition and typography from Chile. When the visitors were too full of design they could take some fresh air and enjoy the happy, vivid sounds of Loquero, or if they preferred to skate, since many of the visitors were with their skateboards there. The book that commemorates the ten years of existence of this festival, with unique stile, guiding the reader trough a game was presented. In there can be seen the faces of worldly known Laura Varsky, Stefan Sagmeister, Ruben Fontana and much more Argentinean designers. After the break Big Active presented the punkish/ seventies stile who they mix with modern music. Today, Javier Lucero opens the second day of the festival, but before him, two workshops will be available for the visitors. Hojun Song will demonstrate the Korean design. At around four pm Massimo Vignelli will reveal the secrets of the graphic design and why he is considered father of graphic design with a video conference. Doubleyou, Unconvention Uk, Ana Lisa will follow at the fullest. Just at the end of day two David Carson from USA will show what design is for him, and why he turned from classic readable fonts, to the ones almost unreadable, but very creative. Tomorrow the show will start with Sonido Inca. La Nueva Grafica Chilena once again will demonstrate the Chilean graphic design and its strong sides. The Argentinian Dr Alderete’s psychogenic, surf rock…
