Developer and Motion Graphics artist Hakim El Hattab has created very special web art.

It may not explicitly describe itself as art - rather "experiments" - yet at the very least it's a vivid expression of elegant interactive subtlety in a medium prone to lack of attenuation. There are 9 experiements in all and each is unique and full of poetry. It's very worth one's time to check them out firsthand by hitting up Hakim's site. Prepare to be dazzled.

A musical example is Keylight

A playhead travels between keys which resonate in sound depending on where they are placed in the room.

Wave is a meditation on the aquatic state of the online social sphere

A wave with bubbles floating on the surface, the bubbles each represent a tweet with the word "water" in it.

As a technical note, each of these is programmed using only javascript and css -- HTML5. These are the open standard technologies that will be the basis of the web going forward. Hakim makes all of the code for these experiements available for anyone to re-use or learn from at:

Especially impressive to give away the keys to the kingdom.

A beautiful convergence of aesthetics and innovation — and I love the open-source aspect. Superb find.
