December Challenge Wrap Up: Winners Announced!

Jan 6, 2011 • 4 comments • 3691 views

The impressive quality of the entries made it very difficult to pick a winner — the editors had many great stories to choose from.

$500 cash prize and a hardcover bound coffee table book, containing the top four entries from this challenge.

Here are some of our notes on "Waiting for Rwanda":

"Waiting for Rwanda has a natural flow that builds to a powerful conclusion — it's visceral and engaging." — Joseph Yen, Co-Founder, CEO

"Remarkable for the degree of power and moral force it generates on the strength of complete inaction.." — Douglas Gorney, Content Director, Editor-in-Chief

There were many excellent stories and selecting only one was difficult.   Here are some others we really liked:

"The Illustrator" Y.G. Yen

"Promise and Collapse"Duncan Vieira
 "Somewhat Operational" Cinafero Hollbeck
"A Breakup" L. Imming
"Major Tom to Ground Control"L.F. Sellyn

"How Soon" Joseph Campbell

$500 and a hardcover bound coffee table book, containing the top four entries from this challenge.

. Bernardia will receive $300 and a softcover coffee table book, containing the top four entries from this challenge.

. Darrel will receive $200 and a softcover coffee table book, containing the top four entries from this challenge.

Congratulations not only to the winners, but to all the contestants.  You guys are a highly talented and we look forward to seeing more of your work.
