Last week there was a gasp among authors, writers, and bilbiophiles. Well, maybe I'm stretching it a tad, but there was a shock that there was no award given out for fiction for the Pulitzer Prize. This is like there's no Best Picture, no best album. It's 1994 when there was no World Series. Sorry fiction writers, we just didn't see anything you did was any good. Better luck next year!

This was incredibly odd, because it was a fantastic year in fiction. I read novels that simply blew me away, that I wanted to say to people "You haven't read this? Oh my God, you must read this, it is so so good." Quite frankly (and I'll probably never get a Pulitzer by saying this) but I want to say to the Pulitizers: What the freaking hell? You had a qualified team of writers who picked out their favorites, why not…
