I use a stick and black ink to explore quick life drawing. 1 min to 20 min.

Some of these I am transferring to abstract steel sculptures and steel weld paintings.

The steel series can be seen at:

The full series of drawing can be seen at:

“People say “it is only a sketch.” - It takes the genius of a real artist to make a good sketch - to express the most important things in life - the fairness of a face - to represent air and light and to do it all with such simple shorthand means. One must have wit to make a sketch. Pictures that have had months of labor expended on them may be more incomplete than a sketch.”

Robert Henri

“Drawing is like doing push ups, you need to practice it everyday.” Mark Tennant

WOW! Thank you, Virginia. Each one of these is charged with emotion. The way you see line is truly inspiring. Now I can't wait to back into the drawing studio.

It's informative to see how you are interpreting the 2D drawing into 3D sculpture on your website. You are using paint to as the finish. Have you used acid based patinas and/or dye oxides? You also lay a really nice bead with the MIG. I'll get you for that! :P
