Argentina vs UK and the battle over the Falkland Islands
Inspired by the role of Meryl Streep in the Iron Lady, now the president of Argentina, Kristina Fernandez de Kirchner, wants to show her toughness and determination to gain the power over the Malvinas (Falkland Islands).
Thirty years after the war with Brittan for the islands, the president and the people of Argentina still thinks that the Falklands are part of Argentina. But while Kristina Fernandez calls Prince William a conqueror, for going to the Islands, the Minister of defence says that Argentina will defend its territory if attacked, and on the other side say that they will regain power over the islands.
It starts as a political battle that is played by Argentina and the United Kingdome.
First MERCOSUR (Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia and Uruguay) says they won't let ships sailing under the Falkland Islands flag enter their ports. This obviously means that none of these members accepts the islands as independent. As a response to this, the islanders decide to travel with British flags. So the members of MERCOSUR can't ban British ships from entering their ports.
To this economic attack to the Falkland Islands, David Cameron, the British prime minister sends a modern battleship, HMS Dauntless, to the Islands. And only a month after they send the battleship, Prince William visits the Islands for a "humanitarian" mission.
The manoeuvres planned or not, by UK and Argentina, raise suspicion among the people of the both countries, which ones crossed their swords in battle for the Falklands in 1981.
After the battle ship and the visit of Prince William, the President of Argentina decides to appeal to the UN accusing Brittan of militarizing the South Atlantic and bring nuclear weapons. And she quotes John Lennon "Give peace a chance" . UK to this responds even stronger than ever that they will defend the islands.
While the people of the islands give the loyalty to Brittan, the Argentinean people stay indifferent and uninformed of what the people of these small islands want.
And maybe inspired by Margaret Thatcher's strong attitude, or following the steps of a desperate dictator, or to cover the weak economic situation The Black Widow (Kristina Fernandez) makes a huge fuzz of a nonexistent problem.
